Bully for him
Dave Spikey is to host the revival of darts quiz Bullseye.
The Phoenix Nights star will take over from Jim Bowen when the cult show is revived on Challenge TV from next month.
He said: ‘I'm excited, apprehensive and mostly honoured because Bullseye is for me, and millions of people, a special show and a national institution.
‘It's a great, great, show with great contestants and great prizes (well you know!) and it's an absolute pleasure and a privilege to be involved.’
Celia Taylor, deputy controller of Challenge TV added: “We’re delighted that Dave is going to be the new face of Bullseye. Dave is in a class of his own He’ll bring his own original blend of wit and unique style.’
Original scorer Tony Green and the animated Bully will be back as part of the new show, which starts on April 17.
Spikey appeared with Bowen in an episode of Phoenix Nights, and has since become known for his regular appearances on Channel 4 panel game 8 Out Of 10 Cats.
Bullseye originally aired on ITV from 1981 to 1995 and, in its prime, was watched by as many as 15 million viewers on a Sunday evening.Published: 14 Mar 2006
