Australia gets its own Comic Relief

Australia is to have its own version of Comic Relief – 20 years after the charity was launched in the UK.

The Seven Network is launching its own comedy-based fundraiser with a two-hour live telethon next month.

It is being promoted with 'big red undies', and was one of the last causes Ronnie Barker, pictured, lent his name to.

Money raised will be split equally between Australian charities and good causes elsewhere in the Asia Pacific region

The programme will feature live comedy, recorded sketches an a collection of British Comic Relief skits never before seen in Australia.

The British charity has raised almost £400 million in its history.
