Dawn makes her Radio 4 debut

Dawn French is to star in her first Radio 4 comedy – as an expert in sulking.

In Mastering The Universe, the comic plays Professor Joy Klamp, described as an authority on ‘ruining other people's fun, who will teach listeners the best way to be a spoilsport’.

The show, which launches on November 2, has been unveiled as part of Radio 4’s new autumn schedules.

Also in the line-up is Dave Gorman’s show, Genius, in which the comic and celebrity guests test out ideas suggested by the studio audience. That starts on October 27.

News about shows launching next year was also announced.

Ross Noble is returning to the air in March; following up his previous travelogue series with an account of touring Britain, Ross Noble Goes Local.

And The National Theatre of Brent have a programme entitled The Arts And How They Was Done, starting late in January.

Other shows scheduled for this year include Miles Jupp’s Real World, starting October 5, and ount Arthur Strong's Radio Show, starting on December 23.

Clare In The Community and Ed Reardon's Week also return for second series.
