Vic's comeback

Reeves plans Catterick spin-off

Vic Reeves has revealed that he’s working on a raft of new comedy ideas with Bob Mortimer, including a new sitcom.

The comic, who is about to start as a  DJ on Virgin Radio, also wants to bring back Shooting Stars.

And he said he planned to recreate his Big Night Out live show for a one-off performance to promote a new DVD of the cult Channel 4 series.

‘We're trying to work out a Friday night show and maybe a sitcom. We've got plenty of ideas,’ he said.

He said that one possibility was to base a show around one of the characters from the dropped BBC Three comedy Catterick.

‘They didn't want another Catterick. I want to take Inspector Fowler and turn it into a sitcom where he solves a different mystery every week. Like Morse, only he does it by default,’ he said.

Reeves is also presenting a new wildlife show about endangered species, Final Chance To Save, where he highlights the plight of the tapirs of Costa Rica.

He said:  ‘We need to educate Costa Ricans, that they shouldn't cut down the rain forest and should use shadow coffee, which is grown underneath the trees.’

The show starts on  September 3 on Sky One.
