Vicky's in Vogue
It’s normally the preserve of waifish supermodels – but now Little Britain’s Vicky Pollard is to appear in Vogue.
Matt Lucas’s chavvish single mum is to grace the page of next month’s issue in a 13-page feature by celebrated style photographer Mario Testino dedicated to the sketch show’s characters.
The snapper himself – most famous for his portraits of Princess Diana - appears alongside Lucas and David Walliams’ rubbish transvestite; and other pages see appearances by wheelchair-bound Andy and his helper Lou, and Dafyyd, the only gay in thevillage.
And insensitive eight-loss guru Marjorie Dawes is seen glowering at supermodel Erin O’Connor as she steps onto the Fatfighter scales.
Vogue editor Alexandra Shulman said: “The notion of pairing the glamour of Mario’s photographs with the harsh comedy of Little Britain was irresistible.
“Right from the start I was sure we needed to have a model in the pictures to contrast the Little Britain characters and the traditional Vogue world.”
Walliams said he had to persuade Lucas to take part in Testino’s shoot.
“Between you an me,” he told the Vogue writer, “Matt didn’t know that he was probably the most famous photographer in the world.”
Their photoshoot is in the July issue of Vogue, out on Monday.
