Kylie joins Kath & Kim

Kylie Minogue is appearing in Australia’s top-rated sitcom Kath and Kim tonight, after admitting she is a huge fan.

She flew from London to Melbourne to appear in the final episode of the show, which is coming to BBC2 in the New Year.

In interviews with the Australian media, she said: “I'm so hooked, I’m a massive fan, I've bought all their DVDs and basically force them on my friends.

"I get around in my Kath & Kim apron and use the Kath & Kim oven mitts. I'm a tragic fan."

The former Neighbours star plays Epponnee, the grown-up version of Kim’s baby daughter, in a flash-forward scene.

"I didn't feel true fear until after I'd done it, at which point I was terrified," she said: “It dawned on me I'd just featured in the most successful Australian television comedy ever, with the best comedians in Australia. If I've survived performance-wise among that group, then I'm really happy."

Minogue was asked to appear Kath & Kim after stars Jane Turner and Gina Riley, saw her sing the sitcom’s praises on a TV talk show.

She said she tries to spread the word about the show to friends in Britain, where it’s largely overlooked on Living TV.

"If you enter into our Kath & Kim circle over here in London, and you don't know much about the show, you have to be tolerant, because you're among people who are just in love with it," she said.

"When I show it to my friends here, I say, 'There may be some bits you don't get', but largely they do," she said. "I think that's because, in a way, it's simply a family story, isn't it? "
