Scot's missed

Little Britain character axed

Matt Lucas and David Walliams have dropped one of their Little Britain  characters – after they ran out of money.

Scottish eccentric Ray McCooney, who speaks in fantastical riddles, will not appear in the second series, which starts on BBC3 tonight.

In a radio interview, Wallaims said: “It would have cost £6,000 to build the set of his inn, Ye Olde Hotele.

“We did so much outside filming that when we tried to get Ray in we realised we had spent all the cash," he told LBC.

A BBC spokesman said: “The decision to not include Ray McCooney was Matt and David's. Of course any show always has a set budget.”
