Curb your nomination
Curb Your Enthusiasm has been stripped of its nomination for a major US award.
The Producers Guild of America had shortlisted the Larry David show for its best comedy accolade at next month’s ceremony.
But it has now had to withdraw the honour – after discovering the show wasn’t eligible to enter.
Programmes up for awards had to air new episodes between September 1, 2004, and August 31 last year.
But although Curb was off air that year, not returning to the HBO station until September 25, guild members still voted it as one of their five shortlisted shows.
Hospital sitcom Scrubs has now replaced Curb on the shortlist, as it attracted the next highest number of votes
Scrubs creator Bill Lawrence said the news came as a shock to him, telling Hollywood bible Variety he still was still half-expecting the guild to change their mind yet again.
‘I'm going to keep my mouth shut and show up in a tuxedo,’ he said. ‘I'm hoping we win now because of the sympathy vote.’
The other shows nominated for best comedy TV series in the February 22 ceremony are: Arrested Development, Desperate Housewives, Entourage and Two And A Half Men.
