Kay's ratings bonanza

Nearly 7m see stand-up show

Almost seven million people watched Peter Kay’s stand-up show on Channel 4 last night.

His Mum Wants A Bungalow Show show was seen by 6.7 million viewers – or a third of the total TV audience at the time.

The hour-long performance was sandwiched between two editions of the Big Brother ratings juggernaut, including the surprise eviction of Stu.

But the fact he managed to sustain such a large audience will delight bosses at Channel 4, which was easily the most watched network of the night.

Kay’s show was recorded at Manchester’s MEN arena, where he used to work as a steward, on the last night of his 180-date tour

A version of the show recorded at the Albert Halls in his native Bolton has already been a hit on DVD, click here to buy it from Amazon
