Carrie and Co 'head for big screen'

Sex And The City could be heading for the big screen.

The comedy ends its six-year run in the States on Sunday, but cable network HBO says it plans to keep the franchise alive.

Executive producer Michael Patrick King is writing the script for the proposed film, which he would direct, Hollywood bible Variety reports.

And HBO is negotiating with stars Sarah Jessica Parker, Kim Cattrall, Cynthia Nixon and Kristin Davis to reprise their roles.

No starting date on production has yet been set, but the script is expected to be complete in May.
