Oooh, Betty!

R4's tribute to comic star Marsden

Radio 4 is to pay tribute to Round The Horne star Betty Marsden next month.

Broadcaster Chris Neill will present a personal tribute to the actress, who made her name in serious roles before moving into comedy. She died in 1998 after a 60-year career in the business.

The tribute, The Husky Betty Marsden, features interviews with Marsden's children and her friend Bill Pertwee, and will air on March 9 at 11.30am

Her work is currently being revived in the West End, where the likes of Daphne Whitethigh and Dame Celia Molestrangler feature in the stage revival Round The Horne... Revisited. (Click here for tickets).
