Lee Evans says he is quitting Hollywood because he was too lonely in Los Angeles.
The comic is now concentrating on roles in the West End after a movie career that included There's Something About Mary and the Jackie Chan film The Medallion.
He told Teletext: "I was very lonely. It was horrible; I had no mates."
Even if he wanted to return, he says, "I'm not sure if my wife would let me go. Last time I went to LA, I stayed for two years, writing for NBC.

Evans will appear on stage next month in Samuel Beckett's Endgame, then will take a starring role in The Producers in November.
And for 2005, he plans another stand-up tour, although no dates have yet been announced.
