Worth waiting for
British stand-up Paul Chowdhry has just been told that he won a comedy award - more than two months after the event.
The comic was named Critic's Choice at Cape Town's Smirnoff International Comedy festival, which ran in late September, but was unaware of the honour until last week.
The festival revolves around stand-up showcases rather than full-length shows, and Chowdhry's set was the one that most impressed a panel of reviewers.
Other British comics who went to the festival included Ian Stone, Nina Conti and Ian Cognito.
Chowdhry has just returned from a second trip to South Africa this year, performing as as part of the Indian Kings of Comedy showcase in Durban.
He is now worjing on his debut Edinburgh show for the summer.
