Best newcomer nominees and winner will also be announced on Saturday.
This all-male shortlist was drawn up by a ten-strong panel of critics, producers and the public.
Normally only five are selected, buy the judges felt these six were worthy of nomination - and there are no hard and fast rules about how many make the shortlist. The last time the shortlist was six was 1996.
Each panellist will now see each of these shows again before Saturday's decision.
Judges include journalists Bruce Dessau and Fiona Sturges, who last week bemoaned the standard of comedy on the Fringe - singling out only Men In Coats for special mention as an innovative show.
