Pink Panther musical planned

Broadway producers are planning a new musical based on the Pink Panther films.

Blake Edwards, who directed Peter Sellers in the slapstick movies he also wrote, is working on the project.

The script has already been completed, as well as 13 new songs - including words for Henry Mancini's famed theme tune.

Julie Andrews, Edwards's wife, revealed details of the project in an interview with showbiz journal Variety.

An earlier Edwards movie, Victor/Victoria, has previously been made into a Broadway play.
