Dr Crane returns to Boston bar

Stars of Cheers are to make guest appearances in a future episode of Frasier.

A plot in the new series of Kelsey Grammer's series sees the Seattle shrink return to the Boston bar where he was first introduced to TV viewers.

In the episode, called Cheerful Goodbyes, Dr Crane will try to convince barfly Cliff (John Ratzenberger) not to retire and move away from the city.

Cheers favourrites Carla (Rhea Perlman) and Norm (George Wendt) will also appear in the show, America's TV Guide reports.

This is not the first time Cheers stars have appeared in the successful spin-off series. Previous storylines have featured Sam Malone (Ted Danson) and Frasier's ex-fiancee Diane Chambers (Shelley Long)
