Shaving firm's new comedy contest

A new competition for comedians has been launched - by razor manufacturers Wilkinson Sword.

The Cutting Edge of Comedy will host heats at 25 clubs this summer, whittling entrants down to six regional winners.

Those acts will showcased at a week-long event at the Edinburgh Festival, for which their travel and accommodation fees will be paid.

Finalists will also be featured on the Internet, allowing punters to vote for their favourite.

The winner will get "financial support" worth £2,000, plus the chance to play in clubs around the UK.

Heats start in London on March 3. Entrants, who must have a ten-minute routine, can register at the official home page.
