BBC names comedy chief

Producer promoted

The BBC has named its new head of comedy - Sophie Clarke-Jervoise.

She replaces Geoffrey Perkins, who is leaving the corporation to join independent production house Tiger Aspect,

Clarke-Jervoise has been the executive producer of some of the BBC's biggest comedy hits, including Harry Enfield and Chums, Two Pints of Lager and a Packet of Crisps and Murder Most Horrid.

She has worked with Perkins for the past two years as an editor on comedy programmes.
