Enough, already!

Gorman swamped over Neighbours namesake

Dave Gorman has pleaded with fans not to tell him about a fictional namesake.

The comic was flooded with more than 1,000 emails after the character Dave Gorman appeared in Neighbours yesterday.

But the sighting will not help the stand-up's globe-trotting quest to find others who share his name, because he already knew about it.

The minor character was named in honour of the comedian after writers saw the Dave Gorman? - Edinburgh Fringe 2000 at Chortle.co.uk">Are You Dave Gorman? show at the Melbourne Comedy Festival earlier this year.

But eagle-eyed fans who saw the soap have still emailed Gorman in their hundreds, filling his in-box and crashing his computer.

From New York, where the live version of his show is enjoying success off Broadway, Gorman told Chortle: "I don't need to be told about this one!"

Meanwhile, Gorman's book detailing his adventures has just been sold to a German publisher.
