Details of the 12 gigs around the UK and Ireland

Heats start soon for this year's Chortle Student Comedy Award – the 20th year we have run this prestigious competition.

Twelve heats will be held across the UK and Ireland in the next two months, ahead of a semi-final and final, where the 2024 winner will be crowned, and take home the £1,000 first prize.

The runner-up will receive £250, while all finalists will once again be showcased in the Comedy Arena at the Latitude Festival – gracing the same stage as Jo Brand and Sara Pascoe – when it returns to Henham Park in Suffolk on July 25 to 28.

Previous winners have included Joe Lycett, Jamali Maddix and Phil Wang – with the likes of Ed Gamble, Chris Ramsey, Laura Lexx, Iain Stirling, Simon Bird, Ania Magliano, Tim Renkow and Tom Rosenthal as finalists.

On winning last year, Riki Msindo said:  ‘It was so much fun. I was a fan of comedy first so just being able to watch such a great final was incredible. The best part was performing  with so many talented and hilarious people, who I'm sure I will be friends with for life.’
