How to be a reviewer
31/07/2013 … As the Edinburgh Fringe begins, a raft of comedy fans will be picking up their pens to become critics, many with little previous experience.
Chortle's Opinions section is an arena for fans to share their views on any aspect of comedy.
We invite general comment pieces about particular aspects of the comedy scene (although reviews of individual shows or performers tend not to be suited to this section except in very rare circumstances). Contributions should be at least 500 words in length, in a similar tone to something you might read in a broadsheet newspaper, and emailed to steve@chortle.co.uk
We reserve the right to edit pieces – although we will be careful not to change the meaning of anything – or not to use them at all. By submitting an article you grant Chortle indefinite licence to use it freely; though you retain the copyright on it to use it elsewhere.

31/07/2013 … 1.
29/07/2013 … I used to not want to go to the Edinburgh Fringe until I was ready.
18/07/2013 … Contrary to the Chortle Correspondents article earlier this week, I’m always being told that, as a newer act, I need to gig outside London.
17/07/2013 … ‘London is really where you need to be if you want to get on’ is advice that I, as a new comedian, have been getting from some comedy industry insiders recently…
16/07/2013 … I wrote a joke recently (yeah! I know! A joke!) and I wrestled with whether it was funny or not.
15/07/2013 … The year is 2167 and the stand-up comedian’s function in society is questionable.
14/07/2013 … I love the Edinburgh Fringe.
