Comics sign up for Lotto series about making dreams come true

Seann Walsh, Olga Koch and Eddie Kadi live out fantasies

Seann Walsh, Olga Koch and Eddie Kadi star in a new series promoting the National Lottery.

Across the three episode, the comedians are each given £10,000 – the equivalent of a month’s payout on a Set For Life lottery jackpot – to try to make their films come true.

Episode one of the show – made for Channel 4 by Romesh Ranganathan’s production company Ranga Bee – follows Koch as she tries to become a pop star.

And all three find themselves on top of the i360 tower in Brighton to feel uncomfortable – because Lady Gaga gets out of her comfort zone to find inspiration and Koch wants to do the same. The other two ten-minute  episodes are filmed in London and Paris.

The series was developed by marketing agencies Hearts & Science and Drum. Simon Carr, chief strategy officer at Hearts & Science said: ‘On one level, the mini-series is entertainment at its finest and a lot of fun.

‘However, there’s more to it than that. We wanted to show real and relatable people playing, winning and talking about Set For Life and how it enabled them to do more of the things they love, repeatedly.

‘We knew that daydreaming about the future had to be central to the idea, so we embraced passion-points and creative pursuits. This ensured the message felt personal and relevant within the context of people's lives. We also leaned into established Ritual and routines, crafting stories that evolve over time to highlight the possibilities of the monthly prize.’

Steve Parkinson of National Lottery operator  Allwyn added: ‘The casting of comedian friends, Seann, Eddie and Olga bring the joy and fun of what incredible experiences might be possible with a Set For Life win, helping viewers to imagine what they would do if they won.’

The video has been released on Channel 4’s YouTube channels, with tie-in content, including a three-part vodcast with Walsh, going out on Ladbible.

Benjamin Green, managing director of  Ranga Bee Productions said: 'It’s been great to work with Allwyn and Channel 4 to see what happens when comedians get a taste of being set for life. Spoiler alert: it’s not always what you’d call "wise" but it’s definitely entertaining.’
