Felicity Jones to star in Simon Amstell’s new film
Star Wars actress Felicity Jones has signed up to star in Simon Amstell’s new film, Maria.
The comedy is about a woman who is starting to feel insecure about ageing – and who hits it off with her new stepbrother on her father’s wedding day. Then the awkwardness of their unfortunate sexual chemistry is exacerbated when she discovers her father is terminally ill.
W1A’s Jonathan Bailey and The OA’s Jason Isaacs have also signed to star as Maria's boyfriend Eddy and her father, Deadline reports.
Amstell – who writes and directs the film – told the website: ‘I'm incredibly excited to begin shooting Maria this year with Felicity Jones. Our hope is that making a film about our culture's fear of ageing and death will be an absolute sensation.’
Maria will be shot in the UK and America this autumn, and will be hawked around international buyers Cannes this month.
