BBC Three pilot for Marcel Lucont
Marcel Lucont Is to star in his own BBC Three pilot, Merde In Britain.
The show is a topical, studio-based comedy in which the fictional Frenchman 'casts a critical eye over life on this side of the Channel, looking at recent news stories to draw Britain’s attention to its cultural perversities'.
Lucont told Chortle: 'Britain is certainly not getting any better. It is understandable that the BBC have brought in a higher cultural being to hold up a mirror to its inhabitants' ruddied faces. I will do the best I can, although it may take several series before we see improvement…'
The creation of comedian Alexis Dubus, Lucont was seen on the finale of Ricky Gervais's Derek this week and has previously appeared on Russell Howard's Good News and Live At The Electric for BBC Three, as well as being a stalwart of the festival circuit.
The character has previously recorded a laconic hip-hop number, Merde-Oui, and written a comedy book, What We French Think Of You British – And Where You are Going Wrong.
Merde In Britain is being made by the BBC’s in-house comedy entertainment team, and the pilot is not expected to be broadcast.
