James Corden's new comedy
James Corden has filmed a new TV comedy-thriller for the BBC, called The Wrong Mans.
He also co-wrote the script with his friend Mathew Baynton, who played Deano in Gavin & Stacey and currently appears in the kids’ sketch series Horrible Histories.
A pilot episode was shot last month, although it is not intended for broadcast at this stage, and no channel is yet attached to the show.
The pilot was directed by Jim Field Smith, the former member of Dutch Elm Conservatoire who directed last year’s comedy movie She’s Out of My League; and overseen by former 11 O’Clock Show and Klang Show producer Lucy Robinson. Co-stars included Chrissie Cotterill, whose recent appearances include Whitechapel and Doctor Who.
Meanwhile, Corden is about to become a star of CBeebies, providing the voice of Charley Bear in a new pre-school series. The father-to-be said: ‘When I started [recording this] a year ago I didn't think then that next year I'm going to have a baby! I just read it and thought it was a nice thing to do.’
And in an interview with The Sun today, Corden said he would work with former collaborator Mat Horne ‘in a heartbeat’ – despite reports that their split following criticism for Lesbian Vampire Killers and the Horne & Corden sketch show was far from amicable.
‘That whole time of working with Mat when we made the sketch show and were in that film, you learn from that,’ he said. ‘What you realise is you can't make anything without making mistakes.’
