David Eagle wins a Fringe award
David Eagle has won an award for the best show by a visually impaired performer at the Edinburgh Fringe.
The comedian and folk singer – who was a regular on BBC Radio 4's The Now Show – took the accolade at the Neurodiverse Review Awards today
He said: ‘So pleased to win the Visually Impaired Excellence Award, which is awarding me for my stand up show, rather than awarding me for being excellent at being visually impaired; although I think I'm pretty excellent at being visually impaired; that just comes naturally.’
Simon Jay, editor of Neurodiverse Review said: ‘Eagle is an example of a perfect marriage between persona and material, a rare thing in stand-up. He feels like a vaudeville star …. a step away from the big time.’
At the same ceremony at Just the Tonic Nucleus, Jordan Tweddle won the ADHD Comedy Award for his show Pillock, described as a ‘queer neurospicy coming-of-age remix’.
