David Meech has been around for a couple of years now, in which time he’s developed an engaging, confident manner, and competent stagecraft. But material is proving to be a much bigger hurdle.

He’s from the West Country, a simple geographical fact that provides the source of most of his gags. Apparently, it’s rather rural and backward there, and the locals are all inbred, but then you’ll already known that as scores of stand-ups and pub wags have been saying the very same thing since the beginning of comedy.

The other main strand of his act is the fact that he’s gay, which again isn’t really that interesting in itself. It gives him opportunity for a few mildly camp double entendres, that’s about it.

He comes across as a nice enough guy, but unfortunately his act is all-too easily forgotten.
