Colin and Rob – Original Review
Note: This review is from 2002
Gleefully unfashionable, Colin and Rob resurrect the timeless bickering double act formula to great effect.
Their contagiously silly set can sometimes seem a little over-staged, but their instinctive comic ability, and resolute determination not to take themselves in the slightest bit seriously easily win through.
This same innate ability overcomes a slightly shaky start, in which they deliberately deliver bad jokes badly, and they soon get the audience on-side and keep them there.
Such stupidity could so easily backfire if not skilfully performed. For example, for most their set, the fat bloke and his strangely-navelled foil are semi-naked save for nipple tassles - a sight that is saved from appearing an embarrassingly desperate bid for zaniness by their underdog likeability.
We're sure to see more of these two - and not just because of their willingness to shed their kit.
