Ciaran Dowd's Don Rodolfo comes to TV
Ciarán Dowd has adapted his award-winning live show Don Rodolfo into a TV short, which is getting its first TV airing later this month.
Co-written with comic Tom Parry, the ten-minute short will air at 10pm on April on BBC Two.
Dowd plays the title character, ‘a total butthead, a shameless libertine and the greatest swordsman the world has ever seen’.
Now barricaded inside a remote tavern, surrounded by the Catalan army and facing almost certain death, the swashbuckling Rodolfo has ten minutes to drink a bottle of Valdepañas and tell his epic tale…
The short also stars Jayde Adams, Ariyon Bakare and Abbie Hern, has been directed by Tom Marshall and produced by Avalon.
Dowd, formerly a member of sketch group Beasts, was named best newcomer at the 2018 Edinburgh Comedy Awards for Don Rodolfo, and nominated for the breakthrough award at Chortle Awards the following year.
His TV and film credits include Stephen Merchant’s Fighting With My Family, Romesh Ranganathan’s The Reluctant Landlord and Keith Lemon’s Coming in America.
