Babatunde Aléshé tours Ireland for new Channel 4 series
Babatunde Aléshé has travelled to Ireland for the first time for a new Channel 4 series.
The three episodes of Where To Next? have been sponsored by Tourism Ireland to encourage more visitors, with the first episode out today.
His trip takes in both north and south of the island, travelling the Causeway Coastal Route and the Wild Atlantic Way, stopping off at Derry/Londonderry, Donegal, Galway and surrounding areas as he chats to locals.
Rather than using the internet for travel tips, the current Taskmaster contestant, former I'm A Celebrity star and Celebrity Gogglebox regular will take their tips to find hidden gems.
In episode one, Aléshé visits the coastline of Carrick-A-Rede, takes a wild horse ride along Downhill Strand beach and tastes some local beers at Walled City Brewery
The series follows last year’s Stand Up Road Trip, also sponsored by Tourism Ireland and which featured comedians Suzi Ruffell and Seán Burke
Charlie Hyland, digital commissioner at Channel 4 said: ‘This has been such a brilliant partnership and I’m delighted we’re doing it all again. Babatunde is such a naturally funny comedian, whose wit and charm coupled with the joyous locals, makes it such an entertaining watch. I can’t wait for audiences to enjoy the road trip he gets taken on.’
Where To Next? will stream on Channel 4 and YouTube and edited into nine short-form 60-second clips for TikTok, Instagram and Facebook, alongside a 30-second commercial ad streaming on Channel 4.
Julie Wakley from Tourism Ireland said: ‘The partnership is expected to have 4 million views on social, so it’s a wonderful opportunity to inspire travellers in Great Britain to put the island of Ireland on their holiday wish-list.’
And Rupinder Downie, content solutions leader at Channel 4 said: ‘Our original partnership with Tourism Ireland was a major success in connecting with Channel 4’s audience, which is why working together again to uncover more of the secret sights that make Ireland so special felt like a no-brainer.
‘Our viewers enjoy content that’s authentic, entertaining and informative. Babatunde’s conversations with the Irish public provide a perfect blend of these qualities.’
Here's the first 16-minute episode:
The series was produced by Strong Watch Studios, with the support of media agency OMD UK.
