Comic stands as Green Party candidate
Comedian Bruce Fummey is to stand for election for the Green party.
The stand-up, who won the Scottish Comedian of the Year title in 2014, is hoping to land a seat on Perth and Kinross council, where there has never been a Green councillor before.
Fummey told Scottish newspaper The National: ‘Some people say there are already enough comedians on Perth and Kinross Council, but I disagree.’
He added that there would be ‘no conflict’ with his job as a stand-up, saying that when Scottish Greens leader Patrick Harvey comes to Perth on April 22, ‘I will be handing out leaflets in the afternoon, then in the evening I will be performing my stand-up show.’
Fummey joined the party following the 2014 independence referendum.
