Comedy terrorist Aaron Barschak has paid £1,000 to advertise his Edinburgh show on Arabic news channel Al-Jazeera.

Barschak is returning to the Fringe this year despite the raft of scathing reviews he attracted last time, and the fact that his a curiosity value has depleted.

This year’s offering, My Passion For Art, revolves around his arrest and jailing for throwing paint over Turner-nominated artist Jake Chapman in an Oxford gallery.

He’s even running his own venue, with Canadian comic Alex Lasarev, to stage it. The room is in the cellar of what’s claimed to be Trainspotting author Irvine Welsh’s favourite pub, The Phoenix.

To launch the venture, the pair booked a 30-second spot on Qatar-based Al-Jazeera.

During the ad, Barschak offers, in Arabic, half-price tickets "to people working for government agencies or in the demolition business".
