Leicester Comedy Festival will be the biggest yet

2024 programme launched

Leicester Comedy Festival launches its brochure today with a record number of shows. 

So far 708 shows have registered for next year’s event, 12 per cent up on the 631 logged for 2023 and higher even than the pre-pandemic levels of 684.

The event launches with a preview show at De Montfort Hall on January 12, hosted by Sindhu Vee (pictured), ahead of the festival’s dates from February 7 to 25. 

Comedians performing in 2024 include Kieran Hodgson, Daniel Sloss, Sophie Duker, Ross Noble, Stewart Lee, Count Arthur Strong, Ania Magliano, Catherine Bohart, Garth Marenghi, Eshaan Akbar, Sikisa and Daliso Chaponda.

At t the same time the city hosts the  UK Kids’ Comedy Festival featuring the likes of Marcel Lucont, The Dark Room, Shelf and Jarred Christmas performing with world champion beatboxer Hobbit.

Festivals and programme director Charlotte Laidet said: ‘We are so happy to be back in 2024 with our biggest festivals ever, and an incredible programme of events for everyone. 

‘In these especially difficult times for the hospitality and cultural sectors, it is really important and rewarding for us to see the support and trust from all our venues, promoters and partners, and of course all the acts taking part in the festivals.’
