Rick and Morty returns to E4

But with new voices

Channel 4 has confirmed that the seventh series of Rick and Morty will be coming to E4 this October.

The series launches on Adult Swim in the US on October 15, although the exact UK air date has yet to be announced.

But Karl Warner, head of youth and digital at Channel 4 said: ‘We can’t wait to be taken on another laugh out loud ride across the universe with Rick and Morty and the rest of the Smith family.  We’re playing the new series as close to its US broadcast as possible, knowing that young UK audiences will flock to our digital platforms to catch up or stream the chaos.’

Channel 4’s announcement says: ‘Rick and Morty are back and sounding more like themselves than ever’ – a coded reference to the fact that the actor Justin Roiland, who voiced them, was axed from the series amid abuse claims.

The series co-creator was charged with felony domestic abuse in California earlier this year, although charges were subsequently dropped over lack of evidence. News of the case sparked complaints of inappropriate workplace behaviour issues.

Michael Ouweleen, president of Adult Swim, said: ‘It’s happening.  Thanks to the talent of the entire show team, we can all enjoy ten new episodes that yet again raise the bar for comedy and animation. This season proves that the geniuses at work on Rick and Morty are just getting started.’
