BBC reveals its programming from the 2023 Fringe

Broadcaster shifts its base to Dynamic Earth

The BBC has unveiled some of its radio programming for the Edinburgh Fringe, including the return of Mark Nelson’s BBC Scotland showcase Edinburgh Unlocked.

The corporation’s usual Edinburgh base has moved away from the festival hubs this year and down to Dynamic Earth, next to the Scottish Parliament building at the foot of the Royal Mile. 

It will host recordings of shows including Radio 4’s Just A Minute with Sue Perkins, comedy showcase Fresh from the Fringe and Loose Ends with Clive Anderson as well as Elis James and John Robins’ Radio 5 Live shows.

Catherine Bohart will be recording her first Radio 4 stand-up special there, Who Runs the World?, about the uneasy relationship between women and power there.

And one of the channel’s new topical shows,  United Nations of News, featuring Ria LinaDaliso ChapondaIgnacio Lopez and Heidi Regan will also be taped at the fesival.

On BBC Radio Scotland, Des Clarke-fronted topical show Breaking The News will feature panellists including Marcus Brigstocke, Susie McCabe, Celya AB, Connor Burns and Val McDermid and Stuart Mitchell.

Comics will also be appearing on BBC Scotland’s other programming from the festival, with Jason Byrne and Fiona Allen already booked for The Afternoon Show.
