Donald Glover's comedy heading to terrestrial TV

BBC Two has bought the rights to Donald Glover’s acclaimed comedy-drama Atlanta – two years after it aired in the States.

The comedian stars as Earnest Marks, a Princeton dropout who returns to his hometown of Atlanta, Georgia to discover his cousin Alfred (Brian Tyree Henry) has become Atlanta's hottest new rap act.

Glover, who created the show and is one of the executive producers, also writes and directs several episodes,

Atlanta has won two Golden Globes, two Emmys and two  Writers’ Guild Of America awards, among many others.

BBC Two has the rights to the ten-episode first series, which originally aired on America’s FX series from September 2016, and will now be screened in the UK  from Sunday May 13.

The second season, titled Atlanta: Robbin' Season, ends in the States next week.
