A week of Fringe benefits

The best of the week's live comedy

The week ahead in live comedy.

Sunday August 6

LONDON: The Camden Fringe continues all week. Tonight’s comedy highlights are probably a couple of work-in-progresses: Funmbi Omotayo at Camden Comedy Club at  8pm, and Norwegian oddball Daniel Simonsen at The Bill Murray at 9.30pm

Wednesday August 9

LONDON: Jaunty musical agitators Jonny & The Baptists play an intimate ‘greatest hits’ show at the Canal Cafe Theatre tonight, before heading up to the Edinburgh Fringe.

Thursday August 10

EDINBURGH: The Gala For Mental Health not only raises money for the Mental Health Foundation but features Fringe acts who talk about their experiences. This year it's Carl Donnelly, Hannah Gadsby, Seymour Mace, Angela Barnes and Robert White. Ace Dome, 10pm. Tickets.

EDINBURGH: It’s also the Barnardo’s Big Comedy Benefit tonight at Venue 150 at the EICC. The line-up includes: Sara Pascoe, Milton Jones, Ed Byrne, Tape Face, Katy Brand, Jo Caulfield, Patrick Monahan and hosted by Tom Lucy. In the last five years, the Comedy Benefit has raised £34,000 for Barnardo’s work with vulnerable children and young people across the UK.

Friday August 11

EDINBURGH: And another benefit, and this one – three years after the death of Robin Williams – is  especially close to comedians’ hearts. Raising money for mental health charities are Ed Gamble, Tom Ballard, Sofie Hagen, Butt Kapinski, John Kearns, and Iain Stirling. Assembly George Square, 00:15
