To Hull And Back... and back
BBC Radio 4 has ordered a second series of Lucy Beaumont’s sitcom To Hull and Back.
The stand-up announced the news on her Twitter feed, tweeting: ’Who hoo!’
Beaumont wrote and stars in the show as Sophie, who is still living at home in Hull with her mum, played by Maureen Lipman. They make a living doing car boot sales at the weekend, but Sophie dreams of moving to London to meet her dad and become a famous actress.
Six episodes, including the pilot, were aired as a series in October and November this year. They co-starred Norman Lovett, Kerrie Marsh and Beaumont’s real-life husband Jon Richardson as DJ Richie.
Lucy, 31, was commissioned to make the show, which is produced by Carl Cooper, after winning the BBC Radio’s New Comedy Award in 2012.
