BBC One orders Mountain Goats sitcom

BBC One has commissioned a full series of Mountain Goats following the success of a Comedy Playhouse pilot.

Six episodes of the studio sitcom have been ordered of the show, revolving around a group of mountain rescue volunteers in Scotland.

The show was initially called Miller’s Mountain, when the one-off aired BBC One earlier this year

It is written by Donald McLeary, directed by Matt Lipsey, produced by Owen Bell and stars Jimmy Chisholm, Kevin Guthrie, Sharon Rooney, Kathryn Howden and David Ireland.

Unveiling the commission at the Edinburgh Television Festival, channel controller Charlotte Moore said: 'I’m committed to expanding the range of comedy on BBC One.'

Earlier this month, Chortle revealed how the monastery-set sitcom Monks, which starred Seann Walsh, Fergus Craig, James Fleet, Justin Edwards and Mark Heap had not been picked up for a full series following its Comedy Playhouse airing.

There is no news yet as to the fate of the other sitcom piloted in the strand, Over To Bill starring Hugh Dennis as a newly sacked weatherman.
