New tsunami benefit

London's first theatre fundraiser

Tickets for the first of the major comedy benefits to aid tsunami victims have gone on sale today.

Lee Mack, Richard Herring, Boothby Graffoe, Neil Innes and Lucy Porter are among those taking part in the One Night Only fundraiser at London’s Bloomsbury Theatre on January 23.

Proceeds from the night will go to The Buddhist Village Trust, which is working to rebuild orphanages in Sri Lanka.

Other comics donating their time include Kevin Day, Ricky Grover, Inder Manocha, Addy Van Der Borgh, Jo Caulfield and Russell Howard.

The £25-a-head show is just the latest in a string of benefits to be announced by the comedy world

Clubs including the Frog and Bucket in Manchester and The Stand in Edinburgh and Glasgow, were the first to react to the tragedy.

Now larger-scale events are being organised quickly, with news of West End fundraisers expected soon.

Tickets for the Bloomsbury gig are available online by clicking here. There are also a few £100 tickets that include a  gourmet pre-show dinner freshly cooked by award-winning Sri Lankan chefChad Rahman.
