Comic puts aside his Anna Mann alter-ego

Colin Hoult – the actor and comedian behind the Anna Mann character – has announced his first UK tour as himself.

His new show, entitled Colin, explores the performer’s relationship with his father (also named Colin) and his son – and will tour the UK this autumn after launching at the Edinburgh Fringe.

The blurb says: ‘How can Colin understand his repressed (but quite bonkers) parents and make sure his children are given more freedom to be themselves? On the flipside, how can he live up to his "proper bloke" of a dad who was such a natural leader with strong principles?

‘From gorillas and Ouija boards to Christmas memories, Colin’s journey of self-discovery sees him explore his background as he looks back at his working-class roots and the importance of the name Colin: his rather drab birth right.’

Colin Hoult’s TV credits include After Life, Ghosts and This Time with Alan Partridge, while his live  character-based shows which were adapted into a Radio 4 series, Colin Hoult's Carnival of Monsters.

The UK tour kicks off with a six-night run at London’s Soho Theatre from September 23, followed by a hometown gig at the Arts Theatre in Nottingham on October 3. Tickets go on sale on Friday.
