Comic's Snack Hacker videos sccop a Fortnum & Mason award

Comedian and cook George Egg has won an award for his comedy cooking videos.

The Snack Hacker videos – which he started during lockdown – last night won the content creator award at the Fortnum & Mason’s Food and Drink Awards.

Other winners on the night included Rick Stein, the Hairy Bikers and Sophie Grigson.

He said: ‘At 51 years old and pitted against a bunch of hip young gunslingers each with tons more followers than me, I’m as surprised as everyone else probably is, but very pleased nonetheless.’

There are now more than 100  Snack Hacker videos, which typically feature Egg adapting a junk food staple like a cheeseburger or a steak bake by adding ingredients to make it more interesting and gourmet.

He is occasionally joined by fellow comics, with guests having included Joe Lycett, Jack Whitehall, Tim Key, Lou Sanders, James Acaster, Mackenzie Crook, Romesh Ranganathan, Jamie Demetriou, Harry Hill and Nick Helm.
