Trailer for George Carlin’s American Dream

Major documentary about the stand-up legend

The trailer has been released for a major new documentary about the life of George Carlin.

Made by Judd Apatow and Michael Bonfiglio, the two-part film – George Carlin’s American Dream – drops on US streaming service HBO Max on May 20.

The clip shows footage from his stand-ups – including his controversial ‘seven words you can never say on television’ routine – as well as contributions from the likes of Jerry Seinfeld, Patton Oswalt, Chris Rock, Jon Stewart and  Bill Burr singing his praises.

It’s clear from the trailer that the film will cover his personal life –  including his relationship with his family and his drug use – as well as his career rollercoaster, including his reinvention as an angry polemicist.

There is no news yet about a UK broadcast.
