Geoff Taylor – Original Review
Note: This review is from 2013
A cheery fellow, Taylor jokes that he's the Milky Bar Kid - after a good few years of confectionery abuse. The good news is that the chocolates are still on him, and he tosses them into the crowd in true panto style as he bounds on stage. If all else fails, bribe the audience into loving you.
Once the tomfoolery has quelled, Taylor settles into a chirpy and chatty routine. If anything, it's a little too chatty at the expense of punchlines.
Michael Jackson, Lord Of The Rings, Tony Martin and some shameless wanking gags make the set feel cosy and familiar, even if the gags are perfectly respectable.
Some of the once-topical jokes are getting past their tell-by date though, especially mention of Amy Gerhing, the teacher who had an affair with one of her pupils. It's been two years since she was in the headlines .
Otherwise, though, he has a keen comedic sense and a likeable manner - which puts him ahead of many other comics of his, relatively young, vintage.
