Dave Williams – Original Review

Review by Steve Bennett
In total contrast to his namesake – who had to subtly change his surname before finding fame with Little Britain - this stand-up has risen through the ranks of comedy without trace. He's a regular compere at Jongleurs and elsewhere, but barely registers on most stand-up fans' radars. That's no surprise, given the blandness of his act. He's a competent MC, settling the room with confidence and authority, but instantly forgettable as he trots through the same old hosting tricks, putdowns and banter as a hundred other comperes have done before.
Though there's not a spark of originality to be seen, this journeyman does the job he's paid to do – but nothing more. Which is precisely why he's surely destined to remain in obscurity - albeit reasonably well-paid obscurity – for the rest of his career.
