Andy Vaughan – Original Review

Note: This review is from 2007

Review by Steve Bennett

Glaswegian newcomer Andy Vaughan can command a room with his presence, hitting the ground running with a sharp tongue-in-cheek joke about thieving scallies.

But he follows it up some mundane gags on the level of imagining Osama Bin Laden being good at hide-and-seek that inevitably fall flat.

When he turns into sicker territory, the atmosphere takes a distinctive turn for the worst. Too harsh an attitude, and too many humourless jokes about rape in particular, can turn an audience against him.
