Ian Hunter – Original Review
Note: This review is from 2005
A working transplant surgeon, this formidable Ulsterman is a veteran of new act competitions – if that's not an oxymoron - and it shows in a confident stage manner that instantly wins the audience's trust and commands their attention.
His material is generally solid, too – not always the most wildly original, perhaps, but certainly good enough to guarantee a decent laugh from most audiences. And he also knows how to couch his material to its best advantage, so that even the workaday stuff is given a powerful lift
A couple of stunning trademark jokes certainly hike up his strike rate, too, including a memorable quip about the Orange Order and another drawing on his medical training that employed the phrase ‘diabetic pussy. Good stuff.
