Simon Evans – Original Review
Note: This review is from 2004
With his arrogant and snobbish stage manner, the aloof Evansmakes no concessions to likeability; instead leaving the brilliantly sarcastic lines to win over the audience
The way he sounds, and looks, does provide plenty of source material for Evans's superior, supercilious act as does the obvious disdain in which he holds much of the rest of the world. Other comics have bemoaned the spread of 4x4s for the suburban school run, for instance, but few as brilliantly as his contempt-filled spleen-venting
And as the pettiness and inadequacies behind his arrogance slowly emerge, the jokes work even better, revealing his routine to be smart, witty, intelligent - and worth making a detour to see.
