Stewart Spaull – Original Review
Note: This review is from 2003
An ultra-deadpan act, who stands rigid as a statue as he slowly and deliberately sauntered through his catalogues of one-liners.
Very few, though, were strong enough for this most unforgiving of deliveries. All those pauses give us time to reflect on the wordplay - so it really needs to be brilliant, and 90 per cent weren't
Save for a couple of real groaners, he leaves the audience almost as unmoved as he is.
