Michael Anderson – Original Review
Note: This review is from 2003
Wildly inconsistent, the studenty Anderson lurches from brilliant bile to predictable low-grade 'satire' in even the shortest of sets.
At his best, he angrily berates such deserving causes as fat people and tramps, and all done so passionately as to blur any irony that may have been intended. And the tirades are all the better for that.
At the other extreme are some grinding similies from the school of Blackadder rejects mixed with the sort of lazy topical humour that involves easy analogies and very little insight - imagine Weekending at its worst.
The schizophrenic quality is unnerving, but at his best this youngster demonstrates keen wit and the ability to deliver it well. Let's hope he can capitalise on that.
